we loved our room, cleanliness, and the balcony view of the ocean. you should try to put all the very loud teenagers who party all night long in one section of the hotel and make others aware somehow.

I found the outside walkways and stairs to be filthy. I told the front desk and was thanked for bringing it to his attention. I'm supposed to be the guest, not hotel monitor. The clerk assured me they are cleaned daily, however the same cigerette butts lay there our whole visit. I also complained about some dried red matter that was on the stairs and drink cups etc. I am 44 and figured for 200$ a night my family and I would be enjoying a world renowned HoJo....one with standards. Also, on July 28 or 29th the fire department responded to room 201. Apparently the sprinkler system activated and when all was said and done, there were puddles of water with debris there until they evaporated the next day. The bottom line is we will never stay there again. If you care, just walk around and look at the place...under and around the vending machines on the ground floor etc. You give Howard Johnsons a bad name...Curtis Browne

Walls had some stains on them from prior occupants, and chairs and side table need replacing/updating as these too were stained. Beds were very comfortable, and overall we did enjoy our stay. It would be great if there were a way to shade some of the pool all day, as it gets extremely hot down there. The beach and boardwalk were beautiful, and my husband and the kids were very happy with my hotel pick! Kids really enjoyed the pool and the ocean right there as well. We generally went to the ocean in late afternoon before dinner, as pool area just too hot that time of day, which is why it would be great if some shade structure around the pool area could be built up at some point.
